Ultrasound pictures

I know, I know - my twice-weekly blogs didn't last very long. But in all honesty, I have sat down and tried to blog three or four times since moving to Rowville, and have run into all sorts of trouble posting pictures and ended up getting frustrated and giving up.

But these pictures were too important to give up on... our ultrasound pictures from our 20-week scan. Everything looks fine, and we resisted the temptation of finding out the sex of the baby, so it will be a big surprise. Hard to believe I've passed the half-way mark! This week, we've started to think about putting the nursery in some kind of order... we had a family from the Corps over for dinner this week, and the 3-year-old daughter wanted to see the baby's room. She looked very disappointed when I showed her!

There are lots of other photos I want to get up, but these were priority. Hopefully the twice-weekly posts will get back on track now - January just seemed to blur past!

This one is one of my favourites - I love the nose!

Either sucking its thumb or picking its nose!

Showing off it's long fingers...

Looks like it takes after Mum in the hoof department...

Looks like it takes after Dad in the "flip-the-bird" department... charmer.

Until next time... xoxoxo

The Aftermath

So, Christmas and Boxing Day are just a distant memory now, and things are slowly getting back to normal - if you can call diving headlong into packing and cleaning normal. Christmas Eve brought a load of carollers to our front door unexpectedly (thanks to the Waverley youth who came out)! When the front doorbell rang, we went to answer it, but before we could get there a cornet started playing and voices started singing. Ruby came and enjoyed the festivities, and even joined in the singing of "Jingle Bells" with a howl on the final note!

Christmas Day was wonderful - very busy and very long, but wonderful. Lunch with my sisters and their other halves (and of course, Baby Joel) and then dinner at Matt's sister's place with all of his family. We ALL (Matt, me and the baby) did very well in the presents department. Boxing Day brought it's own traditions - sleeping in, watching the cricket, hitting the sales and eating the leftovers! We weren't initially going to go to the sales, but being so close to Knox we ventured over... and ended up with a phenomenal bargain that made it all worth it. We received some money for Christmas from my parents and Matt's Grandad, so went browsing for a cot. We found a really nice white one at Toys 'R' Us (after Matt got over his phobia about buying baby supplies from a toy shop) which was $300. After paying at the cash register, the staff member asked if we wanted the change table as well. We must have looked a little confused, because she pulled out a catalogue which showed that if you bought the cot, you got a change table for free (valued at $200). Our answer: Um, yes, we'd like the change table as well! It's still sitting in the box in the garage, but we'll post some photos when we've moved and set everything up.

Last night, we ventured down to Chelsea Beach to let Ruby (and Matt) burn off some energy. We had fish and chips for tea while Ruby chased the seagulls and ran away from the waves. It was a very relaxing evening. Ruby is still getting into quite a bit of mischief (really must look at puppy school once we get to Rowville!) and is growing up very quickly!

Today has been quite productive in terms of packing. The rest of the the week sees us finish up the packing (more or less) and get started on the cleaning - joy of all joys! Next post will show our garden transformation!
Until then... hope you're all doing well.

Mayhem!

Well, yesterday was... wet!

I had an appointment at the Salvation Army Training College in Parkville in the afternoon. I left there at 3:45pm... and got home at 6:15pm! When I left, the deluge hadn't started, but I could see it brewing in the east. Halfway home, the downpour started and didn't let up for about 20 minutes. I drove through three 'lakes' on Burwood Highway, then pulled over because I couldn't see where I was going!

When the rain eased off, I headed off again but very quickly realised I was stranded on the city side of Springvale Road. I tried a few different roads, but everywhere I went there were rivers running across the roads! Fun!

Home at last - the pets all survived the ordeal, despite evidence that water had gushed through our backyard and garage! I spent the evening on the couch "recovering" after a weird and wonderful day!

Getting the ball rolling...

Here is my first blog entry... I'm not going to make any outlandish statements and say that I'll post every day, but I'd like to aim for twice a week (we'll see how we go). Why I am blogging? My life has become what I like to call a "Mess of M's". It's a beautiful mess - but it is a mess of things beginning with M.
  • There's my Marriage to Matthew (since May 2002)
  • My life of Mission and Ministry as a Salvation Army officer
  • Dealing with Maternity and impending Motherhood (due June 21)
  • Managing my ever-expanding Menagerie of animals (a puppy, two cats, fish sometimes)!
  • Coping with the fact that my Mum-and-Dad now live in Moldova (in Eastern Europe)
  • And Moving appointments in a few short weeks out to Rowville

So, it's all happening! This is mainly a way for me to keep my parents up-to-date on what I'm up to, but I'm happy for others to follow along on this Messy Journey.
