The Aftermath

So, Christmas and Boxing Day are just a distant memory now, and things are slowly getting back to normal - if you can call diving headlong into packing and cleaning normal. Christmas Eve brought a load of carollers to our front door unexpectedly (thanks to the Waverley youth who came out)! When the front doorbell rang, we went to answer it, but before we could get there a cornet started playing and voices started singing. Ruby came and enjoyed the festivities, and even joined in the singing of "Jingle Bells" with a howl on the final note!

Christmas Day was wonderful - very busy and very long, but wonderful. Lunch with my sisters and their other halves (and of course, Baby Joel) and then dinner at Matt's sister's place with all of his family. We ALL (Matt, me and the baby) did very well in the presents department. Boxing Day brought it's own traditions - sleeping in, watching the cricket, hitting the sales and eating the leftovers! We weren't initially going to go to the sales, but being so close to Knox we ventured over... and ended up with a phenomenal bargain that made it all worth it. We received some money for Christmas from my parents and Matt's Grandad, so went browsing for a cot. We found a really nice white one at Toys 'R' Us (after Matt got over his phobia about buying baby supplies from a toy shop) which was $300. After paying at the cash register, the staff member asked if we wanted the change table as well. We must have looked a little confused, because she pulled out a catalogue which showed that if you bought the cot, you got a change table for free (valued at $200). Our answer: Um, yes, we'd like the change table as well! It's still sitting in the box in the garage, but we'll post some photos when we've moved and set everything up.

Last night, we ventured down to Chelsea Beach to let Ruby (and Matt) burn off some energy. We had fish and chips for tea while Ruby chased the seagulls and ran away from the waves. It was a very relaxing evening. Ruby is still getting into quite a bit of mischief (really must look at puppy school once we get to Rowville!) and is growing up very quickly!

Today has been quite productive in terms of packing. The rest of the the week sees us finish up the packing (more or less) and get started on the cleaning - joy of all joys! Next post will show our garden transformation!
Until then... hope you're all doing well.

Such a cute dog...!! She's really growing up quick. Matt doesn't look like he was burning up too many calories in the photo. Must have been having a rest with the ball.
Great that you got a bargain with the change table. Good to read your blog. LOL Dad and Mum.
