I had an appointment at the Salvation Army Training College in Parkville in the afternoon. I left there at 3:45pm... and got home at 6:15pm! When I left, the deluge hadn't started, but I could see it brewing in the east. Halfway home, the downpour started and didn't let up for about 20 minutes. I drove through three 'lakes' on Burwood Highway, then pulled over because I couldn't see where I was going!
When the rain eased off, I headed off again but very quickly realised I was stranded on the city side of Springvale Road. I tried a few different roads, but everywhere I went there were rivers running across the roads! Fun!
Home at last - the pets all survived the ordeal, despite evidence that water had gushed through our backyard and garage! I spent the evening on the couch "recovering" after a weird and wonderful day!
